Two Rain City Athletes Selected for National Team Selection Camp

At the end of February, water polo players from around the country convened in Northern California for the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program (ODP) National Championships. The ODP is a forum to identify and develop athletes to represent USA Water Polo in domestic and international competition.

Throughout the National Championship tournament, USA Water Polo head coaches observe and evaluate every athlete on their water polo skills. As a result of these evaluations, 48 youth and cadet athletes and 70 development athletes are selected to attend the National Team Selection Camp (NTSC) held March 31–April 2.

Jake Gordon, a Rain City and Roosevelt HS Water polo player, was selected to represent the Pacific Northwest Zone Youth team, and Mercer Island’s Maxwell (Max) Vacca, a Rain City 14u water polo player, was selected to represent the Pacific Northwest Zone Development team in the NTSC.

At the National Team Selection Camp for each age group, players will be further evaluated.  At the end of camp, 20 athletes will be selected to participate in national team training, as well as, represent USA Water Polo in both national and international competition that will run through August.

CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK to  JAKE and MAX!!
