Rain City takes 1st at John Hale

John Hale Champ 2016After going a perfect 4-0 last weekend, Rain City’s 18U boys team took first place in the 39-team John Hale Tournament. The tournament victory was Rain City’s first-ever title at John Hale, and one of only times in recent memory that a non-California club took home a first-place trophy at the large tournament hosted by CHAWP of Chino Hills, CA.

The 18U’s started off their tournament with a 13-4 win over Rose Bowl B. In their second game of bracket play, the 18U’s again won by a score of 13-4, this time against Pacific Polo. In the semifinals, Rain City took down San Diego Shores 16A, 10-7, to advance to the championship against Bakersfield. In the championship, Rain City’s offensive fireworks continued in a 15-7 win.

Rain City’s 16U boys team also had a successful tournament at John Hale, going 2-3 in the 16U Division II bracket. The 16U’s dropped a close opening match to Foothill, 9-7, and then fell to Pride and Racer. But the boys rebounded with strong wins against NSD Stars (11-0) and CHAWP Black (7-3) to round out a strong final day of competition.

Congrats to all athletes competing in the final tune-up before this weekend’s Junior Olympics tournament in Northern California!
