Rain City alum picked for US National League

Stanchi competing in the 2016 Norcal Tournament

For the third consecutive time, former Rain City standout and current member of Stanford University’s mens water polo team, Marco Stanchi has been invited to play in the US National League. Founded in 2015 by USA Water Polo, the US National League¬†features eight teams comprised of the best water polo players in America, including current Men’s Senior Team members, dozens of¬†former Olympians, current and former NCAA All-Americans, and members of the USA ODP National Teams.

In two years as a Stanford Cardinal, Stanchi has helped his team with a combined 25 goals – 16 coming in his first year as a true freshman. As a high school athlete, Stanchi led Bellevue High to three state championships despite not picking up the sport until his sophomore year.

Stanchi continues to work hard to elevate his game to the next level. He has been rewarded with an opportunity to play in the US National League, something no athlete from Washington State has ever had the privilege of doing. Congratulations, Marco!
